Dual Mass flywheel yes or no

I have a 2008 Freelander 2 with 108k on the clock was in McDonalds drive through and put my foot on the clutch pedal to get my wallet out of my back pocket and that was it. The clutch pedal would not return back up after lifting it up with my hand it working once so got out of McDonalds.
I have now replaced the master cylinder ( what a job that is) I put it back together But the pipe from the master to the slave cylinder was not sealing at the master cylinder so got a new one. all good but it is still not working and after trying to bleed the clutch can not get it to work after bleeding and the fluid is just going some where but have had a good look and can not see any leaks. So i have come to the conclusion that it must be the slave cylinder so I have a question i will not be doing it my self so have to bite the bullet and pay to get it done. I will get them to do the clutch at the same time do you think I should all so get the Dual Mass flywheel replaced at the same or is it just a unnecessary expense. Big Cry
thank you for look at my post

The dual mass flywheel has a wear tolerance if it's within that should be ok to go again! Very Happy

If the gearbox is coming out its a no brainer. You replace the job lot.

Suggest you get the transmission oils changed at the same time. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

There is a belief that the dual mass flywheel is the weak point in the failing of the clutch, so I would replace both.

Rip out the Dual mass and fit a solid state fly wheel all day long!

I saw a post whether here or another forum that said that the DMF on cars from MY2010 was stronger than earlier cars due to stop/start and there have been less failures. Perhaps those with post MY 2010 can comment on failures if any my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
2012 HSE SD4 In Orkney Grey now gone, best car ever.

You will save a good chunk of money fitting a solid state flywheel kit. only thing is you will almost certainly have to source it yourself. Or even sourcing your own parts

Euro Car Parts

discount code JANSALE

A grand total of £435.81 for a Luk (I am sure we will all agree a very repeatable brand) for a dual mass flywheel and tree piece clutch kit.

Now before you go writing it off saying "its not LR Genuine parts" Stop to think..... Its a 2008 with 108k on the clock! Is there a need for genuine parts? Sensors and other electrical components i fully agree always worth sticking with land rover dealership. However other mechanical components and the likes of a repeatable brand is more that sufficient!

Thanks Trav.

Using that price for parts my calculator suggests the labour at the Indie is more expensive than the main dealer. I would be using that as a lever for a further reduction but I am from Yorkshire. Whistle Mind you the main dealer will wash and vac your car and feed you coffee for £1334.09. Rolling Eyes I get 20% off service parts at a main dealer without much hassle so I would suggest anyone facing into wanting to use the main dealer always to ask for a trade price once out of warranty.
