The real tail pipe on our 09 is stainless steel. It looks quite nice polished up with a bit of heat blueing /brown on it. ( obviously if you have the time or the inclination to polish it with some mop wheels and compound using a battery drill). The plus side is it has lasted 5 Halifax winters and road salt that would turn chrome to a distant memory. Now that i am a full time gentleman of leisure i might whizz it up to a mirror shine again as i have promised to valet the Freelander as it looks quite sad and neglected parked next to the gleaming white pearl/metallic Outback Laughing 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

These are the larger finishers or you can go for the smaller ones.

Stuart, I'll ask this openly rather than PM since others may be interested in the answer.

I've just acquired a pair of finishers just like yours and fancy trying them on my i6 too.

How easy were the standard i6 tips to remove for you? Mine have no bolts, screws or clips seemingly attaching them to the car, so I'm just wondering how much force and grip is going to be required to extract them!

The finishers bolt onto the existing pipe via a rather heavy duty stainless steel round clamp. You simply tighten to clamp on and loosen to take off. Sounds like your missing the clamps which seems odd as the clamp is welded to the receiving finisher.
When they're tightly applied they don't move. Mine haven't moved at all.

You may want to trim the outer skin of the finisher to clear the exhaust pipe where it turns back into the rear box as this allows the finisher to sit much further back and looks far better. Previous pic was before I trimed and this one is now. Looks great, appologies for low light it's 7.30pm here!

Sorry I wasn't clear enough. The new finishers are complete. It's the old - original - finishers that aren't quite right. I cannot see how to remove them. There are no screws or clamps that keep them on. Was that the same for you when you removed the old ones? If so how do they come off?

The smaller finishers have an alan key under the base of the finisher which holds it on the pipe. Should just pull off once you have released. MY15

As I said above, there are no screws or fastenings that attach it. There is a screw hole but there is no bolt through it. It looks like it should just slide off but it won't budge at the moment.

It would appear that they have become corroded on over time. WD40 and a few taps with a hammer, possibly a
Piece of timber between finisher and hammer should dislodge. MY15
