For anyone interested - today I did 165 miles starting with full battery and as you can see my average mpg was 57.1 outward and 44.2 overall which is pretty good for a 2 tonne petrol suv IMHO and certainly better than I got out of the DS Rolling Eyes

If I had recharged before returning this would of been better

Final results -

According to this I was using electric 56% of trip which is 92.4 miles Shocked

This is well over the claimed 32 miles and is due to regeneration when braking plus charging from ICE when running Cool

As you can see first £40 tank is still half full after 480 miles - journey felt relaxed and comfortable Very Happy

I reckon I would get about 3 months on a tank of fuel based on my mileage Laughing 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

2018 the DS/Evoque will be getting mild hybrid tech with the RRS2 getting plug in hybrid. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I've seen that - might look at 2.0 Petrol Ingenium RRS PHEV but absolutely zero interest in 3 cylinder Diesel DS MHEV Sad

http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars...brid-power

Although the suggested 20-30 mile EV range, likely ridiculous cost and poor service may mean I stick with the cheaper Mitsubishi as by then they are claiming 75 mile EV range Cool

I'm interested, I've been looking online at the GX5Hs, I think I've got all the letters correct Laughing. The Outlander would suit my lifestyle better than a full EV. But I have to pass my LR dealer to get to the only Mitsubishi dealer who also have Isuzu and Subaru, they did have Citroen but they lost it due to fiddling warranties Confused

I'll keep reading the brochure for now. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Initially I was going for the GX5hs but when I did the maths it was £6500 more than the GX4h I bought and the BIK was higher Sad

£6500 is a lot for premium leather, parking sensors and Auto Cruise which is all I was interested in Confused

I also read the safety features on hs constantly beep and can't be turned off Shocked

Looks as though prices are rising by £1500 in October plus the £8400 discount I got ends this week - think it's MY17 which appears to have upgraded touchscreen, EV locking switch (prevents petrol ICE running) and EPB - I will console myself with the discount Laughing Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

I just received this in an email a moment ago

Speaking of WBAC - someone is spreading in the fields nr my house today - it certainly smells like that email Whistle

My local dealer obviously hasn't read that - when I asked for a figure for my DS last month they said they had too much stock but if I came back in winter it would be worth more Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Sorry I wasn't sure anyone was interested Embarassed

Going very well thanks - coming up for 2 years/17k miles fault free motoring - I visit the petrol station as often as I visited the LR dealer now - last tank was 133 mpg Mr. Green

Had a trip to Whitby yesterday for lunch across the beautiful NY Moors (approx 100 miles) and averaged 45 mpg using mostly petrol - started with a full battery but couldn't charge in Whitby - I think that's pretty good - DS never managed that on diesel Rolling Eyes

I am considering trading up to the flagship 5hs - been offered £8.5k discount via carwow and £20-22k for mine from online car buying companies - it cost me £25k after tax rebate so depreciation isn't a problem either Thumbs Up

I was pretty excited about the RRS PHEV launch but reading RRSPORT posts not a chance now Laughing Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Loved my GX4h which I had as a company car for 3 years. They are perfect for a 20 mile commute, charging at both ends of the journey - I used zero fuel during my working week, technically doing over1000mpg Mr. Green Longer journeys don't do it justice and you are lucky to get over 50mpg (still not bad for a 2 ton brick)
I had to hand it back last year and really wanted to go back to a hybrid LR but cost was just ridiculous so I got another FL2 and I certainly don't regret it. Cheers,
Raz

I also run the Mitsy as a company car but now paying £86 pm BIK and considering private ownership hence thinking of a 5hs or just maybe buying the 4h off my company Confused

My worst tank was 34.7 mpg Feb 2017 during a week touring Cotswolds with no electric charging facilities - on motorway it managed 40 mpg coming back - this is good imho considering my last RRS averaged approx 27 and my DS 35 Shocked

I bought a Lexus RC 300h F Sport as a second car last Sep but sold it yesterday after only 8 months/2400 miles - it only averaged 30 mpg last 2 tanks which was pretty disappointing but it looked Cool

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White

I was seriously looking at running a PHEV, I even had a 32amp universal electric charging point fitted at home while they were more or less free.

I first started getting interested when I was given a test drive in a Peugeot 3008 Diesel Hybrid. Luckily? the Factory Test Engineer who accompanied me was kind enough to point out that the published mpg figures would be difficult to reproduce on the road. Also that most of the cost gains of ownership were in being a business user, and for an ordinary private buyer, like myself, then a straight diesel may be more economic to buy and run. So I left with just my free '3008 HYbrid4'mug.

That was in 2011, then around 2014 I tried the Outlander PHEV as it is about the same size as the FL2.

I joined the Outlander Forum and was able to use information from owners and road tests to produce a spreadsheet to estimate my fuel costs from real journeys of several weeks. (943miles in total)

PHEV First 25 Miles 150mpg (est elec cost) then 38mpg (est petrol cost) or 32mpg Freelander 34mpg

My actual freelander petrol consumption was 33.5mpg and my estimated PHEV equivalent mpg costs were either 60.8 (for 38mpg) or 53.3 (for 34mpg)

I was quite impressed with these figures and approached a local dealer, but at the time UK Outlander PHEVs were in short supply and the dealer wanted to dictate rather than deal.

As time went on I became more and more appreciative of my FL2, and although the Outlander has its virtues, when I decided to change I choose another FL2.

So I still have an Electric Charge Point in my garage, which I am sure uses it's radio link to send back a message to its control, saying that it is unused and lonely.

As the FL2 is such a superb long distance cruiser, perhaps I should start looking at a BMWi3 for the shorter ones.

But on the other hand I like the high driving position of the FL2 in town. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 74k+ miles) (MY2015)
