Hello looking on Topix saw that bluetooth is integrated directly into the radio and in the hidden menu on the touch screen function is available but disabled with a dealer to see if it is possible to activate .

Pairs fine with Galaxy S5 and with IPhone 6.

Hi, do you have any issues at all with call quality with your iphone 6? I can hear callers fine but my end seems to be very hit and miss and usually results in people hanging up on me cos they think I've disappeared...

Thanks Rich. I complained to the dealer (6 months warranty!) and they said there was nothing wrong Big Cry

Further update to the retrofit of the OEM Bluetooth.

I got hold of one of the last Bluetooth modules available for the early cars, you can see from the date it's a 2011 one.

I also got the VIN of the donor car, so I was able to check the CCF settings used in that car, and I realised that there was a 2nd phone field that needed activating, in addition to the one I selected, and the microphone.

So swapped out the modules

And then edited the CCF so the phone options were the same as the donor car.

And then...

The updated module shows you the carrier, and gives you an indication of the signal strength.

The call quality is far superior now. But I can't say for sure how much of that is because of the updated module, since I had the CCF set incorrectly...

For those who have a factory install in an early model, changing the module to the latest possible version might bring you joy. And if you had a factory install, you can just swap the module, no programming needed. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

Great writeup. I have early 2006 module but factory fitted. I assume if I got a later module its plug and play.

Can you tell me exactly where the module is? It looks like its in the spare wheel well somewhere is that right?

Many thanks

Thanks.

Yes is if you have a factory install bluetooth with the Alpine branded audio, then you can just swap in the newer module for the older one, plug & play.

The bluetooth module is in the right hand side of the boot, behind the plastic trim panel. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

Bought a 2011 module from a scrapped FL2 and swapped it into my MY2007 this morning.

Easy peasy and works great. It now syncs properly with my Galaxy S6, with full phone book access, caller display and signal strength - none of which worked 100% with the original module.

Great article - many thanks!!

Hi Cambo, this is a very interesting post, thanks for all the information you shared.
I read a post from you saying that if you have an old fl2 having bluetooth for the phone, you could easily add audio streaming via bluetooth. How is this achieved?
This is what I'm looking for. I have '09 fl2, came from factory with the premium audio system + audio controls in steering wheel + bluetoth for phone (shows signal strength, carrier, etc). Everything works fine, but I can't stream audio from the phone.
Hope you can help me with this.

Greetings form Argentina!
Juan

Some good news on this subject gentlemen!!!

We are now able to update an old bluetooth module to the latest software revision.

This means if you have an old 2007/2008 module, we can update it to the latest 2012 onward software which gives you compatibility with the newer phones, proper working address book, battery and cellular reception indication.

It's a bit of a hack to make it work, so probably the best thing is we provide the modules on an exchange basis.

Modules for the X150 XK, X250 XF and L359 LR2/Freelander2 can be done on an exchange basis.
Modules for the L319/L320/L322 Disco/RRS/FFRR need to be done in the car.

If anyone wants an updated module, send me a PM. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers
