United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Sumatra Black

Cant seem to find a place to post for new members, so I popped it here. If mods not happy please move or remove, I aint touchy.

Anyway, I am a 55 year old and am more used to forums than bloody facebook, so hope to be a regular member.

I just got a freelander 2 08 reg I know, all my kids have grown up and I thought a 2 door sports cars would be on the cards, but my kids keep having kids and they always want to go out with grandad, so back to larger cars.

I Live in Rossendale Lancs, not far from Rochdale, Bolton and Oldham.

As this is a new car to me I will be looking for advice and of course if possible give back. This is a bit of a basic model really with no satnav or bluetooth (It has parrot) and I love my gadgets...I know very blocky. And want to upgrade it....1st satnav, then entertainment system for the kids and away I go.

Only got it on Monday so driving it like a nun on a day out Smile slow and wide, you know what I mean.

I love having a laugh on forums with like minded people, but am not adverse to a bit of banter either pointed at me.

Anything else, just ask away.

United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey

Hi, I've joined today as I'm sitting at home bored while my 08 Freelander 2 is at the local LR dealer having the rear diff (Haldex) replaced.

They have been very helpful, collecting the car from my house on Friday and keeping me informed. I went through the LR customer relations and discussed how this seems to be a common / known problem on these type of forums etc. and how I have full LR service history.... and the car has only done 90K on-road.
They have come back with a very generous 'good will discount' and are doing a couple of other jobs on the car 'gratis'.

So far, I have been very impressed.......... just waiting to get the car back on Mon / Tues.

Hi
Just joined having found reference to this forum via LRSOC (Series 1 club). Delighted to find a forum for such a newly closed marque! Think JLR are mad to stop production so I've rushed out and bought a half decent 2nd hand one and very impressed Cool I am with the car having tried my daughters Freelander 1 a few times. Sad thing is I have a 300 Tdi CSW Defender to sell now as this was getting too impractical to keep anymore Big Cry

Welcome to Freel2

Hi cqr & ChasB

Yes with the coming of retirement age Milestone I am very pleased of the refinement after years of Series & Defender levels, however I've kept my feet firmly in with my Series 1's Wink My 2011 F2 is also on 66K so hopefully just run in! I think forums are immensely useful way to keep up with issues and tips as I've done with LRSOC and the Audi A2 mob for my wife's car.

Cheers
M

Newbie

Hi I'm new to the forum, looked in a few times and finally regesterd .
We have a Volvo C30 as a second car but looking to change that for a freelander 2 or possible Estate
Car. I had an Evoque for a year but didn't really gel with it and returned to BMW.
However This time I'm looking for a 4/5 year old FL2 to transport the grandkids and all their gear
On camping and beach trips.

Go for it Hutvan

I've needed mine too for grandson and general clobber collection let alone a decent car to go out in. My first full tankful got me to 300 miles with 220 showing as range so I reckon I'm getting a good 40mph which is 25% better than the Defender as one might expect Cool .
As with all motors ensure your potential buy has had a decent service record and is an 'honest' car as they say. Worth doing an HPi check for the money they are selling for at the moment. £16 -£17k should get you a decent car maybe cheaper privately but as usual buyer beware!

Cheers hootsman,I should be in a position to purchase a car near Christmas but no real panic as the C30 runs fine so just trawling the site and absorbing some info regarding FL2's.

FL2 Owner, looks like the most active FL2 forum so figured I'd get some good advice here.

hi and welcome.

yes you will get some excellent advice on this forum, a lot of very experienced very knowledgeable and very helpful guys on here.

unfortunately there are also absolutely tons of ideas and examples of how to modify and improve your FL2 even more, and this may lead to the spending of cash on 'just one more mod' Laughing

South Africa

Hi there, after extensive reading finally time to join!
Going to buy an FL2 this week Very Happy Made some test drives and I love it, both the TD4 and i6.
Still haven't made my mind on which one to choose, there is plenty available from 07/08 with around 100k mileage.
But have a hard time to trace back the service histories...Just moved to South Africa and want to take her out on some trips to explore my new home.

Looking forward to own one soon, and update my profile Wink

Cheers,
J.
