Very nice! Are the lights plug and play, or did you have to make an adaption?

Had a chance to play some more. Wanted wireless music from my phone and some other features like tomtom on my car screen. Didnt like the idea of car play as you cant easily retain parking sensor and sub etc. I recently upgraded my Apple Tv3 to the new version, so you can see where this is going...

First up heres the apple tv3 opened up and the standard power supply next to the new dc-dc board.

Dc board in place

Harvested original connection from standard supply

Soldered up to a usb cable and adjusted boards out put to 3.4v. Beauty of this system is you can power atv from any 12v 10w source. I used my ipad charger to test.

Soldering done and hotglued board and cable in place

Back together

Found a unused ignition live fuse in boot. Its there for a caravan fridge so can easily handle the amps needed to run my gvif, atv3 and hdmi converter.

Under drivers seat is where it all lives. Earthed the ciggy lighter to the bolt for satnav unit.

All hoovered out and installed. Just need some shorter cables to reduce the mass of wires.

Atv is using my phones hotspot for wifi which works really well. I get 20gb data so no worries there.

Ipad screen mirroring.

Will get some vids up later to show it working. But im well happy with it. If you already have gvif for reverse camera this would cost you about £90 including buying the atv3. I was lucky and only needed to buy the belkin dual usb ciggy adaptor (needs to be dual 2.1a and 10w), hdmi converter and the dc board. So cost me about £20 to do.

What you think?

Colin 😀
