2017 tax band Fewer HSE's bought???

Just been browsing budget changes for 2017 onward registered cars.
Example for DS HSE Auto
Current Road tax 1st year £130 and following years the same.
Buy one after April 1st 2017 £140 annually.
IF LIST PRICE inc any extras, not invoice price showing dicounts, is over £40,000
Then year 1 = £140
year 2-5 = £450 There is a £310 added for vehicles over £40,000
rest of life £140 subject to new budgets.

Some high emission vehicles have £1200 added to first year and the £310 for next 5 years.

Fun for new car price structures but 1 good point is with high tax will only then pay £140 later in life, a big help to owners further down the line. i.e. current Disco 3 at 8 years old is still £500 a year. All FL2's (3) Gone

The new system is a complete farce.

Why should someone who works hard and can afford a car over £40k be punished?

Also toyotas hydrogen car which costs over £60k but has zero emissions, what does that come under?

The governments short of cash, let's target the motorists again. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

The next move will be to apply road tax for electricity used to charge electric vehicles. It's bound to happen eventually although it will be quite difficult to implement unless you had a meter in the car itself. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
