That guys only got a few pence in his pocket, how on earth is he going to exist, he wont be getting anything to live on from the UK Government will he? Ha and pigs might fly too.

Beats me when they say they are straight off down the to phone shop to let their pals know its easy come come quicki, how come they are wandering around, they might get the urge to disappear?

Oh of course thats what the government wants then they can say well we've not done too bad we've only got 6 detained waiting asylum appeal. Rolling Eyes

At least the whole of UK knows there's a problem now.. for last 27 years when Stack has been operational it was seen as a minor inconvenience. We could take the odd times when bad weather stops travel but this is a situation affecting daily life.

KCC is now looking after 600+ under 18 minors at a cost to local taxpayers of 」5 million and growing. Every possible foster care place is now taken at the expense of local well deserving cases.

It's obvious the French are quite happy for the thousands in Calais to get across otherwise they would arrest all those found in the terminal. The Calais mayor even threatened to give every one of them a free ferry ticket to UK, just to get rid of them.

So when all these people end up at A&E demanding free medical treatments, free baby care, jobs, housing, benefits and are allowed to build camps in our parks.. just maybe the Govt will realise what a terrible situation politicians created to appease the EU. Vote to leave the EU at the referendum and reclaim our borders. Thumbs Up

The ferry companies and UK Immigration in Calais wouldn't let them on the boat even if they had a ticket & I would have thought at least some of the illegals could have afforded 」20 for a one-way ticket just to try.

It would appear from the number of illegals trying unsuccessfully to get into the UK that the border is fairly secure.

So exactly how would leaving the EU make the UK borders more secure?

Perhaps a more secure outer fence and a inner one that was electrified might work.
All lorries have to drive through a height gauge as they get on the train so wiping anything off the roof and then drive through a sheep dip and then a lorry wash to get rid of all the undesirable stuff on the truck.
The rear doors should be alarmed double locked and set off a cs gas system inside if opened illegally.

Devondave - how would getting rid of all the immigrant doctors and teachers help the situation? And if you kick out all the young working immigrants who pay tax, who's going to fund your pension? Whistle Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

The politicians are oblivious up there in their ivory towers. I've just watched an immigration minister live on Sky News making a total bloody idiot of himself, he will not accept that any more needs to be done other than work closely with the French. Cameron needs to get a grip on this before there is civil unrest in that part of the country. It's only a matter of time..... (And privately, I hope it does! Something might get done then!) Foraging near Gaydon....

Got the last of the bits and bobs sorted for our trip at the end of the month, now just need to calculate time needed to make the 00:30 ferry to Calais driving from Nottingham on a Friday night...

DFDS currently seem to be suggesting 90 min checkin time which puts us at 11pm Friday, minus 3.5hrs travel without delays. I'm thinking 5 hours to account for M25 + Dover congestion?
