United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Santorini Black

I've ordered a HSE based on the 24 hours I had with a DS HSE Lux.

It's a great car and a logical improvement on Freelander. You can tell its related, a massive facelift rather than an all new car. Well that's how it feels anyway.

The boot is just right. The one niggle with my Freelander is the boot is just a bit too small. Oh and the powerful if noisy Duratorque engine.

Should get the DS in Sept. 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE

2007 Mazda CX-7 2.3T Petrol (Still in the family)
2004 MG ZT-T 180 + V6 Monogram
2011 Mazda MX-5 1.8 Miyako (PX'd for the Landie)
Others of the past of note have included
MGTF 160, MGF, Ford Puma, Volvo V40 T4, Volvo 940 Wentworth, Rover R8, Volvo 360 GLT, Chrysler Horizon GLS.

First thoughts

1. Its some sort of black / grey - looks like a fox turd on wheels

Still not found a single fox turd that looks anything like one, yet, will keep looking though.

Might not be too good an idea to find one... How big is the fox going to be that produced it?

I am still looking for the right DS - HSE with climate seats, Heated steering wheel, Meridian and in Red / Phoenix.
They are a bit thin on the ground at good prices, so the search continues.

May have to wait until September when the new models hit the showroom.

Seems greedy, ex demo HSE's with a good spec are often 43-45k, yet a new one with similar specification is the same.
Cheeky.

I had a look in a 5 seater the other day and it seems you can't lay the back seats down flat if you want to pack a lot of things in it. The rear seat backs just tilt forward on to the bottoms leaving a sloping surface with a gully behind before the rear compartment floor starts. I don't like that, I think the FL2 with it's secure flat surface is a lot better. It's a pity having a bigger car with a less friendly usable space. Did I get it wrong or is that the case?

It's the useless slide and recline seating that causes the problems. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I believe one can get rid of the gully by sliding the rear seats right back, but essentially you are correct. This, plus the sloping roof which limits load height and the lack of headroom under the tailgate are just some of the things which put me off the DS.

I can't see the need for the gap or that the seats don't fold flat, the Koreans have had this facility on a few of their 4x4's for 10 years . Fold flat, with the seat squab in place sliding reclining rear seat, crap rear suspension and road holding though, pity you can't have it all Sad my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
2012 HSE SD4 In Orkney Grey now gone, best car ever.
