Bought a 2007 HSE yesterday, called my current insurer LV to discuss how to 'mirror' my 11+ years NCD that is in use on other car. They couldn't have been more helpful or cheaper!!

£225 including breakdown cover and protected NCD (fully comp biz use) The chap who helped me did say that LV liked Freelanders. Can't believe it as the other car mentioned above is a 2004 outlander and costs at least £100 more pa.

For info, I did do a confused.com search and the LV did not list in top 10; the cheapest of which was nearly 300 plus breakdown etc.

Great site btw.

We've been with LV for years, found them via the CSMA when we were working. Can't fault them on price and, more importantly, service when needed for claims. Always polite and efficient on the phone too. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto
Tricia's - 2006 Royal Blue Beetle Cabriolet Auto
Mine - 2014 Vespa GTS 300 Super Sport Matt Black
Ours - 2007 White Bailey Pageant Champagne

England

Was with Esure at £380 a year, had been with them for the last ten years, I tried LV last April after Esure would no longer insure me due to vehicle change (Discovery's are on the banned list Rolling Eyes ) LV quoted £700 and would not cover attempted theft or theft until I had fitted a Tracker, went to Admiral and was insured for £350, less than the Freelander with Esure.

Just got my renewal through from LV. £377 for the year, £150 voluntary excess, Protected no claims, legal protection. It has come down a little from last year. They are the cheapest quote for the level of excess. Ive just got a quote from a comparison site for hastings at £280 for the year, only difference is the excess. Hastings are quoting for £245 compulsory and £150 voluntary, total £395.

Ive never had a problem with LV, my wife is with them and we have house insurance but it might be time to change now. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
Gone MY2010 Freelander 2 Manual TD4.e S, Alaska White.

almost the same here.... £406 last year, renewal £382 (nowhere near the 12.5% reduction that I was led to believe has happened across the car insurance market). So a quick go on Comparethemarket was bringing out quotes around the £326 mark (protected NCB, £150 total excess and legal protection)

One very quick phone call to ask how near to £326 they can get to stop me shopping around, straight away down to £353 (a 13.2% reduction from last year!). So well done LV

Whilst on the phone, I mentioned I was interested in putting side steps on. Why on earth should this add £38 to the cost of the policy? I have a feeling the system must just see "added cost mod = 1, appearance mod = 1, performance mod = 0" add £38

I've just dropped LV. I've gone to Hastings and for all the same cover etc Hastings were £50 cheaper. LV offered to knock £20 off but I said no. Hastings quoted £325 for the year. This is the first time in years that I'm not paying monthly. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Ive just bought a Freelander it replace a Saab 2.8 V6 Convertible and I was surprised that the Freelander needed an additional £31 paying at the 6 mth point of the premium!

Well the proof the pudding is in the eating. Like a complete knob I filled my Freelander with Petrol and drove it and wondered why it stopped IN mitigation i ran a Saab convertible petrol for 8,5 years before buying the Freelander !!!! LV were great about it, had me recovered back to the Landrover dealer repaired and back on the road in just over 2 weeks! The bill was £4600 !!! LV handled it perfectly and made me realise its not all about the premium
