I am half way through this but need a premium amp and difficult to find info on the pt nos codes to ensure i get the right one not the lr code but i can confirm that both window dash speakers work just on midline amp and the middle one does not and i am yet to get the pilliar speakers so not sure if these work. How do you edit the CCF? Very Happy

I did this mod a couple of months back, centre and rear pillar speakers will not work without upgrade amp and audio will not work at all with upgrade amp until change is made to CCF. CCF can only be edited via a suitable diagnostics tool e.g.Gap IID, Nanocom, Autologic or dealers LR unit. Key to getting the correct amp is last 2 letters, what you need is DD
BD - low line - no phone
CD - mid line with phone

Jim Ni or Gruodiz!
By any chance did you come across the location of the DAB module?
Reason I'm asking is in Australia no Freelander were every shipped with DAB and the dealers has nooooo idea of its location and now still waiting on LR technical. So I would like to know.
Like you guys have discovered all wiring is there/generic and my MY15 has all DAB antennas and amplifier just no module it seems. Is it in the rear???
I hope to update everyone shortly otherwise! MY15

Hey Jim Ni!!
Where's the trailer module ???
Dealers have no idea here apparently as it was never specified in build parameter by JLRA so there's no data here.
Any assistance you can give be greatly appreciated, it's starting to drive me up the wall that nobody in Australia can answer such a simple question - "where is it"!
This would be logical as it appears most other ICE is in the rear compartment of vehicle.
Did you see it when you did ICE upgrade?
Btw, priced IIDTOOL, Ouch!!! Will have to be Christmas present to myself on the quiet at this stage!! Laughing MY15

I have a German manual which shows the location of the components in th first freelander 2 from 2006
Item 1 is the dab band 3 amplifier. You can rad most if you know
Verstarker is an amplifier
Empfanger is a receiver
Scheibe is window
Heckscheibe is rear window

the second pic shows the relationship of the components.

Thxs Jaap Thumbs Up
Since that post I've managed to find location and it's quite different in a MY15.

Interesting, the trailer module is on left hand site in the trunk on earlier models.

Well I decided to do the upgrade from midline to premium.
Started with the most expensive part: the amplifier. Got the DD from a Jaguar XF.

For the speakers I will have to go to my dealer.
What I wondered is if any of you have also changed the front door speakers.
On the midline they are different from the premium set up. These seem to be of the bass type.
But what is the part number? These seem to operate as a two way system with the tweater and the midrange cockpit speaker.
When I checked the wiring diagrams it seems that on the midline, the door speaker and tweater are paralleled. On the premium setup the tweater is paralleled with the dash midrange speaker. So the door bass speaker has a separate and sole connection to the amp. This indicates a simple adding the dash speaker is not going to work... And some rewirering is need.

I have a late 2007 HSE. But after checking the center speaker position... I could not find any wiring.
Is it hidden far away and do you need to remove the radio control unit to get to it?

I don't mind running wires through the car... But it will save some trouble.

Finding the speakers should not be hard. Finding the rear surround speakers including the panels, could be a problem.
I might have drop these and hope the system works without them. Any advice on a place to buy them?

Thnx
Jaap

Rear speakers come complete with trim, alladditinal speakers required cost just over £100 from dealer. Connector for centre speaker is clipped into dash beside speaker hole, from memory it is at about 5 o'clock. I didn't change door speakers - difference in sound quality is very noticeable on cd and aux, not so much on radio. 2014 SE Loire Blue SD4 Auto (MY15)

Thanks a lot Jim,
Just had a look and yes it's there!
Same as in the rear boot pillars...
So it should be a fun job to do.
Do you remember if you had to take the A pillar covers off? To get to the dash left/ right speaker positions ?
I do not like that as they cover air backs.... Which I hate ( or respect is a better word) when working on cars

Brgds
Jaap

Decided i'm going to do this retrofit, have Midline in ours, why not go Premium.

Just picked up the amp from a Jag XF for £83 from ebay in the states Smile

Also wondering about the door speakers, when I check the online catalog there are only two types of speakers listed:

LR000738 SPEAKER, 20W 4 OHMS, 4 PIN, FRONT AND REAR DOOR, STANDARD AUDIO (BASE) to (V)8H095949
LR009246 SPEAKER, 20W 4 OHMS, 4 PIN, FRONT AND REAR DOOR, STANDARD AUDIO (BASE) from (V)8H095950

and

LR002189 SPEAKER, BASS, MID RANGE, FRONT AND REAR DOOR, WITH PREMIUM SOUND SYSTEM, MIDLINE SOUND SYSTEM

So I take it that the Midline and Premium use the same speakers? What were the previous comments about them being different?

Also, there is only one colour for the "E" pillars? I'm not anywhere near the vehicle to check but i thought they were a light grey in mine (with charcoal leather interior) but there is no colour option for them? 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers
