Hi guys. Getting close to needing 4 new tyres. Found these ones advertised at a well known car parts supermarket kinda place.

General Grabber GT FR XL BSW (235/65 R17 108V)

Now I've been toying with the idea of a set of winters, these are coming up as winters in their filter but I don't think they are? All of the code letters don't seem to match up with anything on Grabbers site. Any idea which ones they are?

I live in the Midlands and don't particularly need winters but thought they might be useful. They're selling them fitted at £107 per tyre which doesn't seem bad for Grabbers.

Anyone got any opinions on these particular ones? I do 20,000 miles a year mainly on motorways but work on construction sites so something hard wearing but ok soft off roading would be good.

I have just had Grabber GT's fitted on mine and I am impressed with them. Very quiet and good cold/wet grip so far. I have done some gentle off-roading (farm tracks and muddy fields) and again grip is excellent. I had Wranglers on mine previously and personally prefer the GT's. For your needs (mainly road) I would buy them. I had a quick look at my receipt and the coding is almost the same with the exception of the FR. I am not sure what that refers to. The BSW is black sidewalls, the V speed rating is fine for FL2's as is the 108 load index. They are actually an all season tyre so should be fine for the worst of the weather we get in the midlands

I'm pretty sure FR on the tyres means they have those sidewall/wheel rim protectors that form part of the tyre. Sort of like a raised rubber lip on the outer sidewall that will hit the kerb first when parking and stop the rim from getting scraped.
Sort of like these ones - but not such a 'stretched' fit!

Same here, I'll think the Grabber GT is going to be my next choice of tyre when the continentals UHPs have worn out which havn't had good reports but which I'm finding hard to understand as I'm finding them very good in the wet (no snow yet) so when the time comes to change do I buy 3 Continentals as the spare the same or go for the Grabber GTs which I'll be needing 4off. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green

Very positive experience with the GTs so far, very good in the dry and the recent wet weather on drenched motorways, of course not had a chance to try them in the snow . FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

Yep. Asymmetric tyres have 'outside' stamped on the outside sidewall and some also have 'inside' stamped on the inside sidewall. Asymmetric tyres normally have tougher outer tread edges to prevent wear on cornering and the water dispersal treads on the inside to divert water spray mainly under the vehicle to help vision of following vehicles on motorways in the rain.

Here you go. Fitted one day late. Mine hadn't turned up yesterday and they offered me Falken instead (no thanks!)

Too soon to tell really yet but on the drive home they seemed very quiet. Hopefully get a chance to try them out in the White stuff next week as we're off to the Peak District for 6 days. Hope the pic has come through as in trying this off my phone!!
