Tony,
Did you get any pics of the ex works Triumph TR7V8 Reg No.HRW250V which in the 1980's was driven by Per Eklund with Hans Sylvan co-driving.
It has been brought out of retirement to be driven by Phillip Young and Hans Sylvan who is now 70+ has flown in at a moments notice to co-drive.

The TR7V8 was a last throw of the dice by British Leyland, they hoped to crack the American market, but only 2,700 V8-engined cars were exported. The motor-sport department built 20, with 300 bhp Rover V8 engines at one end and grafted in Jaguar XK150 axles at the other... for a car with a wheelbase the length of a Morris Minor. The rally cars were considerably heavier than the standard cars.

IMHO a proper rally car, the engine was bench-tested at 318 bhp, runs a 4.5 diff from a dumper-truck, on six-inch wide 13 inch Minnilite wheels with 185-70-DMACK 1 tyres. Good old Yoko A21s for the tarmac bits, same titchy size.

I was asked to carry out radio duties on the event but (Sod it) Censored family commitments got in the way.

Thanks Tony,
That's the one, currently leading Class D4 after 21 stages and 29th overall.
Perez 10th overall but only 2nd in Class F2.

This is the premier rally of the year when rally's were rally's and not one day sprints.

Thanks for the info but my favourite Rally cars are the "Big Healy's". but not IT savvy enough to upload a decent picture.

Many thanks Tony, did actually get a short ride in one in the 70's through Clocaenog Forest in North Wales.

notice in your first pic (black car) how all the nearside sill and door have been modified to accommodate the exhaust which before this mod was often ripped off on rough surfaces. Only snag was the co-driver usually got roasted at Medium/Well Done. Laughing Laughing

Bad news folks, the TR7V8 retired at the end of Special Stage 21 with a blown engine.
Lets hope they are back next year.
