Base for insurance purposes

Can I have some views please? My new job takes me away from home a lot, I am home at weekends at the address where the car is registered and it is parked there on the drive which is what my insurance says. I was wondering do I have to tell my insurance co that most of the week I will be somewhere else but in different places and parked on the street or hotel car parks etc. The problem is that I can't be sure in advance where I will be.

if you are out and about, like a travelling sales man, and not stopping at the same address through the week you can only have it rated on your home address, though you should let them know that this is your situation entails this

some ask what business miles to personal miles are, though this is time on road travelling, not parked up and working from say a hotel for a week Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Presumably they asked you your occupation and you gave them an honest answer. Also presumably you told them you needed cover for business miles. Their risk is based partly on those answers. If you feel they should have some clarification, give them a call. It may cost you some extra premium, but you will have peace of mind in the event your car gets stolen from a hotel in Auchtermuchty!

I was once staying in a hotel in Wakefield. I went to reception to pay my bill and was asked do you have a red Vauxhall Cavalier? I said no but why do you ask. Well it's sitting on the car park with 4 bricks under it and no wheels at the moment.
