Hello all, greetings from sunny Geneva.

I picked up my FL2 about a month ago, and have been testing it thoroughly (but carefully of course). In general, the car is fantastic, and I hardly remember how it was to drive my BMW 320d (2006 model) .. certainly don't miss the latter!

Impressions so far:

Very smooth and comfortable ride, and seat comfort fantastic.
The electronic lumbar support is great, the leather upholstery good.
Automatic transmission smooth and powerful, and sports and manual mode flawless.
Sat Nav spot on so far, and quick ... slightly complicated menu at first, but getting used to it.
PTI works well, although I wish phone info and dialling could be done via the Sat Nav display, rahter than radio display. Still need to look too much down while driving now.
Alpine HiFi system is okay as long as you turn down the sub-woofer somewhat ... not the best sound though, particularly given the brand.
Parking in garages takes some getting used too, but front and rear sensors help (although in tight spots all hell brakes loose whith sensers going off left, right and centre!).
Consumption slightly painful during daily home-work route, much better on the motorway (but doesn't even get remotely close to the BMW 320d).
Looks: fantastic, particularly with smoked side repeaters and small enamel Union Jacks under the side grills (I kid you not! Couldn't find small enamel Indian flags, so these had to do ) ... Stornoway Grey of course ...

So, am happy as a clam at the moment ... except for:

(1) chair moving very slightly when accelerating from stand still position and when braking to a halt.
(2) a slight but noticable "clank" noice vibrating through the accelerator and a peculiar grating sound in the engine immediately after pushing the accelerator from stand still (automatic remember).

May have to pay a visit to the dealer, I guess.

I agree about the sensors, I am told the front sensors use the front speakers and the rears the rear speakers but I have never checked.

Hi,

I have an LR2 SE model does all LR2's/Freelander 2 have the front sensor?

I don't recall any beeping for the front. I have it for the back but the front either doesn't work or I don't have it at all.

just look for the 4 sensors in the front bumper. mine are in the unpainted section about knee high

Brasco, I have a feeling that your SE like the one we get here in the UAE only comes with rear parking sensors.

Model specs are different for the various regions, and here you get all or nothing and no choice for ordering additional options, it's just SE or HSE.

Jutrem do you know if LR2's sold in canada have the option of opening all the windows from the keyfob?

You do not really need the front (parking) sensors as in the USA and Canada you have much more space on the road and otherwise as in merry old Europe.
And yes, you can open all windows via the key fob also in the export versions.

Just wish you could open and close the sunroof with the keyfob as I could with my BMW. That little "missing" detail really P s me off
