Shocks and drop links.

Can anyone help? Went to see about getting rear shocks replaced. Been told the drop links need replaced at the same time. Is this true? It's the quick fit chain. Suspect the guy is trying it on.

If they are worn fair enough, but I've never heard of them being replaced as a matter of course.

I suspect you have been told this because the drop links can be a bit of a pain to get off and need a bit of care and time. Much easier to butcher them off and fit new ones! John

Scotland 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Bali Blue

Just taken the front and rear struts off and back on my 2009 Freelander 2 to fit suspension spacers.

Needed to take a bit of care but the 15mm nuts on my droplinks came off reasonably easily.

I'd be tempted to use a trusted Land Rover independent rather than potentially being shafted by a Kwik Fit crew if I could & it was my car.

I would fit new drop links as when i replaced my shocks last year before my mot. When i picked up the car from mot i found i had a advisory for the lower rear drop link access movement. I then replace all the drop links front and rear as there not expensive but what a difference road handling was better and no body roll.

If anyone has had difficulty finding replacement shocks see the attached link where they stock genuine Delphi units as fitted from new.
