To highlight the farce that is Insurance, please see below the quotes that I have received from various Insurers this last 3 days. All include like-for-like Hire Car/Courtesy Car, 」150 compulsory excess, 」150 voluntary excess, Legal Cover and Windscreen, fully comprehensive with 15 years protected NCD.

Admiral (incumbent - renewal quote) 」485.37
Land Rover Insurance 」723.80
Direct Line 」322.24
Zurich 」344.60
A-Plan (Site Sponsor via Ageas) 」342.28
LV 」383.00
Aviva 」292.15

A huge variation, with LR Insurance coming in at the most expensive at over 」700, despite them quoting me just 」353 in April this year, with no change to the policy details since then!

Having advised Admiral of my intention to leave them and accept Aviva's proposed premium, they matched it over the phone there and then. Nearly 」200 off their initial proposed renewal premium!! To say that I believe car insurance to be legalised Piracy would not be far from the truth, it would appear!!! It is a complete and utter CON, from cradle to grave. Rang agent and after few hrs they rang back with price of 」300 from original insurer so went with that .

My NFU renewal was 」360.79. No problems with NFU but I had to shop around. Comparison sites offered me from 」207 but with companies I had hardly heard of. When I added my usual bells and whistles it quickly rose to well over 」300. I Googled one likely company and they flagged up lots of complaints etc. Stay away! Aviva online quoted 」379. Direct Line over 」400! Shocked I then checked with A Plan, our forum sponsors. They quoted me 」316 with Aviva with the exact cover I have presently through NFU. Cheaper through a broker than on line! Well good! Thumbs Up 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Land Rover Insurance, my last few years quotes from this thread.

2012

Quote:
Yep, I have less than 4 months before it comes around again.
LR's insurance was 」280 but I picked up 6 points which took it to a reasonable 」380 so hopefully they will make me happy again.

Renewal time again with Landrover Insurance, this time with a MY63 SD4 XS and it's gone down by just over 」6 to 」292.00 plus 」50 x 2 for my 6 speed points, happy with that.

JAN 2015
Renewal quote just come through, gone down again by about 」25 to 」268.67 plus 」100 for my two SP30's, fortunately my licence points are zero now but stays on insurance for 5 years. Still pretty reasonable though Smile

I was quoted 」700+ by my original insurer (Hastings) when I changed cars.
I googled and got a better policy (foreign cover, reduced excess) for 」316 (Axa)
Sadly never got Oleg Sad

I'm with Admiral, they penalise you 」50 for a going on a Speed Awaereness, so I've got 」100 loaded on mine as we have both been on them, only on for three years so will see this next renewal could be around the 」250 mark.
