Difference between a 60 reg and an 11 reg FL2

We have recently bought two FL2s both are GS models but the 60 reg one has the "organ pipes" on the intake pipe. The 11 reg one is the facelift version. The difference is quite considerable in terms of throttle response. The earlier one has more low end grunt but the 11 reg one needs more revs to get the same power and feels more like a road car. Have others experienced this sort of difference presumably down to different engine mapping to get the emissions down for lower road tax?

Pre-2011 facelift (ie 60 reg) will have a 2.2litre diesel engine producing 160 bhp while the post 2011 facelift has a 2.2 litre diesel producing 150 bhp.
The later engine produces lower CO2 emissions and a better fuel economy.

Yes I have heard comments to the effect that the newer ones are not so good at towing caravans etc.

Whoever told you that was wrong, torque rose from 400 nM to 420 nM for the post preface models so pound for pound it will have no less grunt at the bottom end. Power is only noticeable further up the rev band and that's not where we tow.

Except for the launch model with 160 due to no DPF.... ( unless some one corrects me ).
