Thule Ranger 90 Roof Bag

Considering buying a Thule Ranger 90 roof bag. Has anyone used or owned one? Are they any good or am I best buying a roof basket.

I will only ever be using the roof for extra camping equipment, not keen on having to store a huge solid roof box!

I have one and can recommend it. Doesn`t obstruct the sun-roof. Quite big when folded.

You´re not supposed to use it empty. The sticker that looks like a LandRover-logo says "Hang Over".

Hi Torssell

That Thule Roof Bag looks interesting Cool

Can you provide any further details / pictures, for example:
Does it fold completely flat for storage?
Does it flap around and become very noisy when travelling at motorway speeds?
How is it secured to the roof cross bars, and is it quick to put on and off the roof?
Is it fully storm proof and keeps the contents dry?
Finally, do you have a Thule part number for this product?

Thanks Thumbs Up

Thanks for the picture. It looks a good size.

I just hope it keeps stuff dry when driving in the rain. The bag it folds into looks fairly strong as well.

No, it doesn´t fold flat, it´s more like a rolled mattress.
Not too noisy, but as I have both the LED-bar and lights on a crossbar plus the rooofbag, its quite noisy having the sunroof open at high speed.
It has clamps round the roofbars, see the link to the Fitting instuctions:

Here is a link to Thule product info:
http://www.thule.com/en/br/products/carrie...0-_-601100

Takes about 10 minutes to put it on, standing on the rear wheels and rear bumper. The big spokes on the Volvo alloys are great to climb on!
I have used in heavy rain and it was dry inside, but they recommend plastic bags.
I think the product number is included in the Thule material.

Many thanks Torssell for the fulsome response to my questions - appreciated. Big Cry

Her Ladyship's FL2 does not have a sunroof so that fact will help keep the noise levels down a little. Have now got my trusty Thule supplier on the job to supply a Ranger 90 and, the Thule 8006 internal bag set for extra weather protection - all at a great price. It's her birthday soon so this is an "extra" surprise present. Very Happy

Bow down Hej Hej Bow down
Wink

Very Happy

Her Ladyship now has one - just gives that extra load space to compensate for the FL2's restricted interior loadspace. Handy as daughter and her mum seem to tour with enough gear to last half a year, and then buy more stuff whilst away without thinking of where the devil are they going to put it inside the Freely Rolling Eyes

Only downside so far to the R90 is that our LR Cross Bars have their ski rack permanently fitted and to use the R90 it has been a pain to disassemble the ski rack to fit the R90 and vis-a-vié. Big Cry

So now looking for another set of LR Cross Bars to dedicate to the R90. Site sponsor Dan needs to sharpen his pencil before another source pops up with a great deal Whistle

I'm looking at it too! I probably will buy it soon Smile

Any problem to have it installed on the OEM Land Rover cross bars?
The THULE instructions for installation request a maximum width of the cross bars of 82mm but my local reseller told me that OEM Land Rover cross bars are 85mm width...
