There are a lot of cables under the mat - where the spare wheel is stored. I allways wanted to put some extra parts that I carry arrund all the time (ie the wheel bolt safety a liter of engine oil antyfreeze aso) there or is there a risk of damaging the cabes or even worse?

I carry compressor, blanket, jump leads, towrope, etc in space around spare wheel and nothing touches any cables Thumbs Up

I was think on the lines of if it damaged whilst "playing" could it short something out and cause more damage that way.

Though by the looks of it with a couple of mins with a socket set you could remove the electrical parts too Thumbs Up

I'm pondering on removing the towbar part next time as it looks to be held on by two bolts, but then i won't know what torque to tighten it back up to.

104Nm Tightness according to Landrover owners info Thumbs Up

Electrics Protection

When I had an early rangie I put a towbar on it (trailers only - no caravans) and put the socket inside a small Tupperware box before bolting onto the car.
This had a short safety chain from the lid to the box.
Absolute 100% protection from day one and cost was minimal 'cos I nicked it off t'wife.

Hi,
I was told that when the tow bar and electric is fitted to the freelander 2. I need to take the freelander 2 to the main agents to have a download on the vehicle to activate the electrics or they dont work.
Is this true?
Any advise welcome.
Regards
JP

Hi that is true if you use LR wiring kit or vehicle specific kit - I used traditional socket with bypass relay and saved loads of money - works without software update Very Happy
